Desperately was trying to install ubuntu as my laptop cd.dvd drive failed and was running to problems lately

Download the iso file 

system  > adminstration>start up disk creator >

boot from usb drive

u will run into problems like

Struck at grub rescue after accidently deleting the ubuntu partion

If you have installed ubuntu 10.10 or any linux operating system on a extendended partition and have accidently deleted it.trying to free up space

Then you  willl be struck at grub screen.

The simplest way for you to boot  into windows again  is to use a live ubuntu live cd

and execute the following commands in the terminal

sudo apt-get install lilo
sudo lilo -M /dev/sda mbr

 

Installing grub after reinstalling Xp

Hi

This is the most frequent problem i face whenever i want to reinstall xp the boot options go missing and my system directly boot into win  xp

There is no doubt that the ubuntu data is there it is just that the master boot record and grub.cfg file have been deleted

How to installl cracked apps for iphone

Hi 

I was waiting a long time for the release of ios 4.2.1 which fixed my iphone 3g slow and performance issues. I was stuck at ios 3.1.3 for about three months and the most of the new apps that released during this time required ios 4.x and later versions.

The jailbreak community was delaying the unlock\jailbreak as apple was expected to release ios 4.2.1 in November 2010 they didn't want to take a chance to risk their jailbreak being patched by apple

Well it was worth the wait as the release pretty much fixed all the issues for iphone 3g. There are many jailbreaks available for but it is better to use redsnow and ultrasnow versions to jailbreak as you will not run into problemns during the installations. The website www.redmondpie.com contains all the guides to go about jailbreaking the iphone, while jailbreaking please deselect multitasking and  homescreen wallpaper options as it will lead to more slowness in iphone 3g

Now most of the apps are in the paid sections The cost may vary upon the app popularity usually (.99$ to 4 $). The free paid apps are good but for the complete features you have to pay

First step is to install installous

1. Open Cydia, add this source: http://cydia.hackulo.us
2.  Install “Installous ver 2.0″ and
3. Install “OpenSSH - this is used to connect remotely between machines ”
4. Connect iPhone to PC/Mac (Using WiFi)
5. Connect to the iPhone using SSH connection (Winscp,CyberDuck ,gftp etc) “Username: root Password: alpine” port no: 22
6. Navigate to /private/var/mobile/ folder
7. Set the permission of the Applications folder to 777 (make sure reclusive is checked).
8. Stay in the /private/var/mobile/ folder.
9. Create a folder called “Documents” in the /private/var/mobile/ folder. Make sure to spell “Documents” correctly, with a capital “D”
10. Copy the ipa file format to following path /private/var/mobile/Documents/Downloads
11. Open installous Go to Downloads tab
12. Tap on the ipa file then select INSTALL

using gftp in ubuntu

go to settings->genral->network->wifi-> note down the ip address



There is a problemn on ios 4.2.1 and openssh need to reinstalled everytime you want to copy some file to ur phone  

I will be trying to use ifile which many have said the easiest method to transfer files.

In the next post i will explain how to use ifile

One disadvantages on ios 4.2 is  now it is not detecting on ubuntu 10.10 the lib mobile is not working properly if that was working you can directly copy the ipa file  no need of a secure ssh connection
 

How i jailbreaked and unlocked iphone 3g

Finally I have jailbraked and unlocked my iphone 3g

Thanks to redsnow jailreaking sw

Here is a guide on how to jail break based on my personal experience

For some strange reason Redsnow 0.93 and 0.95 b4 couldn’t identify my ios 3.1.3 ipsw file,while Snowbreeze sw identified it but ran into problems while restoring the custom firmware to the phone so I was stuck with 3.1.3 version and was waiting for the 4.0 update from apple

There were other tools like Pwange tool(which is for mac),Sprint ,Blackra they also didn’t work on firmware 3.1.3

When ios 4 released i downloaded the ipsw file and restored my phone to os 4

To restore iphone to ios 4 open itunes let it detect ur phone in the iphone section Hold the shift button and click on restore It will ask u to browse for the ipsw file after selecting the iphone file sit back and relax let itunes do the remaining work

Now we have to jailbreak the phone so I tried with Snowbreeze but ran into problems and it was damn slow

I tried with Redsnow 0.95 b4 it recongnized my ios 4 ipsw file.(Do not Use Redsnow 0.95 b4 Use Redsnow 0.93 stable version )

After it had finished processing the ipsw file. In the options window select verbose boot
Next it will ask to u get into Dfu mode to start the process

If u a first time user then Getting into Dfu mode can be a liitle ticky as sometimes you end in recovery mode and to get out from there u have download libusb 32 software and ihacksnow it fixes the recovery loop problem in a jiff

U should see these two pictures

This confirms your jailbreaking was a success


Next comes the unlocking part

Open cydia icon on the phone it comes as default when ur phone is jailbroken

In the packages add source www. repo666.ultrasnow .com

This is install ultrasnow which unlocks ur phone so that u can use it on different carriers (like airtel,Vodafone,etc)

For this installtion u will either need edge/gprs connecetion of have a wifi around

The installation reboots ur phone and voila ur phone is unlocked U should be able to see ur carrier signal strength

If u had jail breaked with Redsnow 0.5 b5

You will run into some problemn like I was not able to accesss internet through gprs/edge another issue was Mms was not there in messaging section

This was big problem as iphone without internet /gprs on the go is practically useless
After some research I found that I had used redsnow 0.95 b4 since it was a beta version
these features were not availbale

To fix this I had to jail break with Redsnow 0.93 version

So again I had to go through the cycle once again

After doing that do not Restore ur previous back up back to iphone if u downloade the ibooks app this will again stop gprs/ edge on ur phone


If u want to use the Ibooks apps that came out u should either jailbreak with redsnow 0.95 b4 or wait till redsnow releases a stable version of it

My Horrific experience to unlock Apple iphone 3g

After much thinking whether to chose between apple iPhone or android phone(google nexus one)

I settled for an i phone 3g simply because of it wide range of apps and also it had a high style value but still it had some minus points like no support for flash,camera pixel is less(3.2mp), no video recording available but not every phone is perfect :)

Android phones looked great but it is still in a nascent stage.

iPhone 3gs was also available the only difference was that it had video recording and a better camera the difference in price was around 100 dollars

But some Features like video recording could be done on iphone 3g by jail breaking

jail breaking means tampering with the code of iPhone os more details


I got the iPhone 3g from us from my sister about a month back. I think i saved around 15000rs the current price in India is around 31000Rs. I was told that it was a unlocked version so that i could use my Airtel network service usually iPhone models come with at&t network service it is not possible to use other networks unless you buy a factory unlocked iPhone


I do not understand why apple takes a long time to launch it products in India  iPhone 3g was released in 2008 in us and it's launch in India with Airtel and Vodafone was towards end of 2009

I was excited when the phone arrived in a neatly packed box but my excitement was short one

When i inserted my airtel Sim card it was saying no network service available and i was not able to go past the emergency call screen section

So i started a extensive research on net and found some favourable results which were little encouraging

My phone specifications were
baseband version 05.12.01
bootloader 6.4
firmware 3.1.3

i found out that first i had to jail break and then unlock

According to many forums I could jailbreak and use it as a iPod or itouch but cannot unlock it

When i connected the iPhone to iTunes software it was giving a message saying Sim is locked

There was no Unlock software available or released by iPhone Dev team(which Specializes in Unlocking) for the firmware 3.1.3 and bootloader 6.4 as apple increased the baseband signal to 5.12.01 in their latest upgrade

Many people who had upgraded their phones to the latest 3.1.3 firmware were also facing the same problem

one option was to downgrade from base band 5.12.01 to 5.11 but only if it is using 3.8 boot loader version otherwise it was useless

The hack is available with i phone Dev team but they are waiting for the i phone OS 4.0 and iPhone 4 to release so that they can try their new hack on it also.

I also went to the airtel guys official partner for apple for unlocking even they also couldn't unlock as the phone was purchased in the us.

i am lucky to be waiting for the unlock from about a month there were many who were waiting for it from past three months

i phone OS 4.0 is Releasing on 21st June or 24th June so right now keeping my fingers crossed :-)

I doubt whether snowbreeze or pwange tool or redsnow, blackra1 could help with unlocking and also did no want to take a chance with these so waiting for the official unlock tool from iPhone Dev team

As of now I didn't do it(jailbreaking) But i am told It will work hundred percent

I enquired at Sangeetha mobiles and they were charging around 1000 bucks to unlock when the unlock releases  which is highly outrageous in my opinion

I lament my decision to buy the iphone3g now as iPhone 4 released and the price of iPhone 3gs has also come down and apple to decided to discontinue their iphone3g production now

Best Tv Shows

I am big fan of the following tv sitcoms which  i started to watch with my friends in hostel during my engineering days. Since the most tv serials are not aired in India usually it takes a year or so for the tv series to air in  India:(

Torrent websites like priate bay and minniova(sad that it has been shutdown now ) saved the day for us


1.Prison Break 
 This was my first serial i watched and it had a good concept and script  and it kept us in suspense week after week. It ran for 4 seasons the story of Micheal Scolfield  who has greately gifted brain who sees things differently plots his escape plan from a prison along with his brother. The actors were great with their respective roles. It is an edge of seat thriller the runtime of each episode is  around 40 min

This is another best tv serial which is still continuing and is slated to end in next year. The sixth season is scheduled to premier in  feb 2010. A  group of survivors who crash landed on a island find themselves  not alone on the island. They are many interesting things keep happening around in  island the director JJ Abrams manages to keep the viewer in suspense for each  new episode  the director also successfully manages to incorporate the element of time travel. This show has won many emmy awards.Runtime is 40 min

24 is story of Agent Jack bauer who is the head of CTU a counter terrorist organization who foils terrorist attacks on us soil The story takes place in 24 hours of the day  the us president and his staff are also actively involved and a interesting aspect of  the series is that it is  shown in real time , with each minute of airtime corresponding to a minute in the lives of the characters. It has finished seven seasons and the season eighth season is scheduled  in jan 2010. Runtime of 40 min

This similar to x men  series humans are evolving and with supernatural powers and there is a organization which trying to put an end to their powers this has a global flavour as the characters are from different parts of the world. There is also a Indian connection to the story.The powers are  good thought provoking. Runtime 40 min

 This is one of the best comedy serials i like very much it is similar to Friends. It tells the story of Ted who tell his kids how he met his mother.It is going on still and we have still not seen his wife. His friend antics are the best especially Barney played by Neil patrick Harris. Runtime 20 min
